How do I post an announcement?
Last verified October 18, 2026
Open Communication in your team portal, click New announcement, write a headline and body, pick who it goes to, then click Post (or Schedule if you set a send time). Everyone it goes to sees it on the Communication page and gets a notification.
You need: The "Post announcements" permission (announcements.manage)
Write and post it
- Go to Communication in the team portal sidebar (
/team-management/communication). - Click New announcement. On a phone it's the round button in the bottom corner. If your team hasn't posted anything yet, the button reads Write the first one.
- Type a headline in What's the headline? and write the body below it. Type
/for formatting, and paste or drop a photo straight into the body. - Under Goes to, pick an audience (see below).
- Click Post.
Titles can be up to 200 characters and the body up to 5,000. A counter appears when you have fewer than 500 characters left.
Choose who it goes to
| Option | Who sees it and gets notified |
|---|---|
| Members | The whole team. Coaches and mentors can still read it on the page but aren't notified. |
| Members + coaches & mentors | The whole team, coaches and mentors included. |
| A role (for example a subteam) | Only people who hold that role. You can pick several. |
Once a post has been sent, its audience is locked. You can still edit the words, but you can't change who it went to.
Need to write to specific people? Click Send a message under the audience row. Messages are private notes to named members; coaches and mentors can read every message, and messages can't be deleted. Sending them needs the separate "Send messages" permission.
Schedule it for later
Set a date and time in the Send field and the button changes to Schedule. Leave it empty to send right away. Scheduled posts are checked once an hour, so one can go out up to an hour after the time you picked. Until it goes out, the post shows a Send now button if you want to skip the wait.
Extras in the composer
- Add a poll: a question with 2 to 10 options. Tick Allow more than one answer or Hide who voted for what. Hidden votes still record who voted; other members only see totals. Editing the options later clears the votes already cast.
- Attach a file: files sit under the post. Photos belong in the body.
- Keep at the top: pins the post. You can add an optional unpin date, after which it drops back into the normal list.
- Link an item (the chain icon): attaches a task, meeting, order or documentation entry.
- Announce in Discord or Announce to webhook: only shows when your team has a Discord channel or webhook set up for announcements. Untick it to keep the post inside Robolyst.
After it's posted
Everyone in the audience can react and reply, and replies are shared with everyone the post went to. Managers can edit, pin, tag awards on, or delete the post from its card. Deleting removes it from the page but doesn't pull back emails or notifications already delivered.
The Followers tab at the top of Communication is a different thing: public team news that emails your followers, capped at two posts a week, and only for verified teams.
