How do albums and event photo galleries work?

Last verified October 18, 2026

Albums are folders for your team's own images under Library > Images, and one photo can sit in several albums. Event galleries are public photo pages on each FTC event, where anyone who was there can upload and every photo is reviewed before it shows.

These are two separate things. Albums organize your team's private image library. Event galleries are public and belong to the event.

Albums

Go to Library > Images. The top row shows All photos, Unfiled and every album, each with a few thumbnails and a count.

To make an album, click New album, type a name and click Create.

To put photos in an album:

  • drag photos onto the album card
  • select several, then use Add to album…
  • open a photo's Albums button and tick the ones you want

Adding a photo to an album never takes it out of another one, so the same shot can live in "Pit" and "Outreach". Dropping new files from your computer onto an album card uploads them straight into it.

To take a photo out, open the album and use Remove from (album name). The image stays in your library. Deleting an album leaves its images in the library and in any other album.

Outreach photos file themselves. Once an outreach log has three or more photos, they go into an album named after the event and its year.

Creating albums and filing photos needs the Manage team images permission. Anyone on the team can browse them.

Event photo galleries

FTC event pages get a Photos tab once the event starts, and that is when uploads open.

  1. Open the event and go to Photos.
  2. Click Add photos (or Were you at this event? Upload photos if you aren't on a team that played there).
  3. Choose up to 6 photos, 4 MB each, in JPEG, PNG or WebP.
  4. Add an optional Caption.
  5. Tick the box confirming you took the photos or have permission to share them, and that everyone identifiable is fine with them being public.
  6. Submit.

If your team played a match at the event, photos are credited to your team number automatically. Otherwise you enter a name under Credit these photos to.

Photos are sent for review and appear on the page once approved. Location data and other camera metadata are stripped on upload. You can submit 3 batches an hour without signing in, or 10 when signed in.
