How do I apply and sign the agreement?
Last verified October 18, 2026
Submit the application under Money > Fiscal sponsorship. Once the Foundation approves it, fill in and sign the agreement on the Agreement page (a parent co-signs if you're under 18), and the Foundation countersigns. Your balance, cards and donations open after the countersignature.
You need: Manage fiscal sponsorship permission (Owners have it by default)
Step 1: Apply
- In the sidebar, open Money, then Fiscal sponsorship.
- Read What you get and Spending requirements.
- Fill in the form: a contact name, email and phone (a student or an adult, whoever handles the team's money), why your team wants to join, what the funds will be used for, and an estimated annual budget in USD.
- If your team already has its own bank account or nonprofit, tick that box and describe it.
- Confirm the team is based in the United States and that you agree to the spending requirements.
- Click Submit application.
Nothing is signed at this stage. The page shows Application pending review, and the Foundation emails your contact address once it decides. If the application isn't approved, the page shows the reason, and you can edit the form and resubmit.
Step 2: Fill in the agreement
After approval, the page says Approved. One document to go. Your Foundation paperwork is already readable under Documents.
- Click Fill in the agreement (or open Agreement in the sidebar).
- Under Program information, enter your city, state, country, school or affiliated organisation (leave blank if independent), mailing address and what the program does.
- Under Team leader, enter the full legal name, date of birth, email and phone of the person signing for the team. This person is the Foundation's point of contact.
- If the date of birth makes the team leader under 18, a Parent or legal guardian section appears. Enter their name, email and relationship.
- Click Save.
Only letters the agreement's font can print are accepted. If a name is refused, use its Latin spelling.
Step 3: Sign
- Click Open it now and read the agreement. Signing stays locked until you open it.
- Type your name exactly as it appears in the team leader field.
- Tick the box confirming you've read it and are authorised by your team.
- Click Sign the agreement, or Sign and email my parent if you're under 18.
Your name, the time and your IP address are recorded on the document.
If a parent has to co-sign
The parent gets an emailed link to read and sign on their own device. The link works for 30 days. On the Agreement page you can click Send the link again, or Fix a detail to correct something. Changing any detail clears both signatures, so you sign again and the parent gets a fresh link.
Step 4: Countersignature
The page shows With the Foundation for review while someone checks the details against your application. If something needs fixing, it comes back marked Sent back by the Foundation with the reason. Once countersigned, you get an email, the signed copy is filed under Documents, and the Account page, Balance, Cardholders and Donors open up.
