What is a fee notice, and why would I need to re-sign the agreement?

Last verified October 18, 2026

A fee notice is how the Foundation changes your Fee Percentage. It needs no signature, arrives at least 60 days before the change (for an increase), and only affects gifts received on or after its effective date. Re-signing is different, and only happens when the Foundation issues a replacement agreement.

Fee notices

Section 6.2 of the agreement lets the Foundation change the Fee Percentage by written notice. It isn't an amendment, so your team doesn't sign anything.

What a notice has to do:

  • name the new Fee Percentage and the date it takes effect
  • arrive at least 60 days before that date if the fee is going up
  • apply only to contributions received on or after that date

Gifts that arrived earlier keep the old rate. A lower fee can take effect sooner, and the notice says so on its face when the period was shortened.

How you'll know

Members with the Manage fiscal sponsorship permission get a notification. The notice itself is filed under Money > Documents, in Issued to team, titled Notice of Change in Fee Percentage with a number. Notices are numbered in order, and a withdrawn notice keeps its number.

The new rate starts on the effective date without any action from you.

If you don't accept an increase

You can end the agreement under Section 18.3 without waiting the usual 30 days, and ask for your balance to be moved under Section 18.4. Email contact@robotics-catalyst.org.

Why you might be asked to re-sign

A real amendment needs both the Foundation's and your team's signatures (Section 19.2). When the Foundation needs a new signed document, it issues a replacement agreement.

You'll see A replacement agreement is waiting on the Account page, with the Foundation's reason. Nothing stops while you sign: cards, balance and donations keep working under the agreement you already have.

How to re-sign

You need the Manage fiscal sponsorship permission.

  1. On Money > Account, click Read and sign it. Or open Agreement in the sidebar.
  2. Check the details, change anything that's out of date and click Save.
  3. Open the agreement, type your name and click Sign the agreement. If the team leader is under 18, a parent co-signs from an emailed link.
  4. The Foundation countersigns.

The steps are the same as the first time. Your old signed copy stays filed under Documents. The replacement restates Exhibit B in full, so once it's countersigned its Fee Percentage and Receipt Deadline are the ones that apply.

Policy changes

The Foundation's written policies, such as spending and receipt rules, can change with 30 days' written notice of any material change (Section 13.1). If your team objects, it can end the agreement without the usual notice period.
