How do I set up and share our donation page?

Find your links

1. Open Money, then Account.
2. In the Public donation page panel, click Copy next to /donate/your-slug.
3. For companies, copy the /sponsor/your-slug link below it.

The slug is your team website's name if you have one, or one made from your team name. If your team website has a donation block on it, the /donate link sends people there.

What donors see

• A one-time or monthly gift. Presets of $10, $25, $50 and $100, or a custom amount from $1.
• A box to cover the processing fee, ticked by default, so the full amount reaches the team.
• Name (optional), email for the receipt, and a message for the donor wall.
• An option to give anonymously, which hides their name and message.
• An employer-match checkbox. Their receipt email then carries the details for their employer's matching portal.
• A Prefer to mail a check? section with the mailing address, when the Foundation has one set. Checks are credited once they clear.

Every donor gets an emailed receipt from the Foundation.

Make it yours

These need the Manage donations permission.

1. Open Money, then Donors.
2. In the Campaign panel, set a Tagline, a Goal (USD), an Ends on date and a Cover image.
3. Click Save campaign.

The campaign shows on your donation and sponsorship pages.

To sell sponsor tiers, give your levels a price under Reach, then Sponsors. A level appears on the sponsor page once it has a price. Under Settings, then Finance rules, you can also turn on File paid sponsors in our sponsor list.

Show where the money goes

Under Settings, then Finance rules, the Public ledger panel has Publish our ledger. Turned on, your donation page lists every donation and purchase with a running balance. Cardholder names, donor names and notes are never published. Merchant names are, so a purchase shows where you shop. Also show which card was used adds the card nickname and last four digits.

Thank your donors

On Donors, click Send a thank you next to anyone with gifts you haven't thanked yet. The Donors and Sponsors tabs keep the two lists apart.

Rules for fundraising

Collect money only through the Foundation. The agreement doesn't allow a separate crowdfunding page, payment app or online account for the team without the Foundation's written approval, and any money handed to the team directly has to be forwarded (Section 5.4). Raffles and sales need approval first, and the Foundation has to hear in advance about any fundraising aimed at people in another state (Section 5.2).
