How do I upload a receipt?

Last verified October 18, 2026

Tap the upload link in the "Receipt needed" notification, which works without signing in, or use Upload next to the purchase under Receipts needed on Money > Cardholders. Photos and PDFs up to 10 MB are accepted.

From the notification

After a card purchase settles, the cardholder gets a "Receipt needed" notification with an Upload receipt link.

  1. Open the link. You don't need to sign in.
  2. Tap Take a photo or choose a file.
  3. Take a photo of the receipt, or pick a saved file.

The page says Receipt saved for this transaction when it's done.

Each new reminder sends a fresh link, and only the newest one works. A link stops working after 14 days, or once a receipt is uploaded. If yours has stopped working, use Cardholders.

From Cardholders

  1. Open Money, then Cardholders.
  2. Under Receipts needed, find the purchase by store, amount and date.
  3. Click Upload and choose a photo or file. On a phone this can open the camera.

This list shows only your own card purchases.

From the Balance page

Members with View finances can also use Money, then Balance.

  1. Under Missing receipts, click Upload next to the purchase.
  2. Or click any row in Activity, then Upload receipt in the Transaction panel.

To swap a receipt that's already attached, select the row and click Replace receipt. View receipt opens the current one.

Accepted files

FormatLimit
JPEG, PNG, WebP or PDF10 MB

The file is checked when it's uploaded, so a renamed file in another format is refused.

Uploading for someone else

You can upload receipts for your own purchases. To add one for another member's purchase, you need the Manage receipts permission.

No receipt to upload

Click No receipt available? on the upload page, or No receipt? on the Balance page. Describe what the purchase was for and click Submit statement. This stops the reminders, but try to get a copy from the store first.

Where it ends up

The receipt is attached to the card transaction and to the matching entry on your Expenses page, so you only upload it once.
