Someone used our join code. How do I approve them?

Last verified October 18, 2026

If your team requires approval, the request shows in a Waiting for approval panel at the top of the Members page. Click Approve or Decline. If approval is off, they're already on the team.

You need: Owner, or a role with Invite & add members

Find your cause fast

  • They joined straight away. Your join link is set to Anyone with the link joins. There's nothing to approve.
  • They're waiting. Your link is set to Approval required, or they asked to join by team number. Their request is on the Members page.
  • They used a personal email invite. Those skip approval, because you already chose that person.

Approve or decline

  1. Open Members.
  2. At the top, find the Waiting for approval panel. It lists each person's name, email and how long ago they asked.
  3. Click Approve to let them in, or Decline.

Until you approve, they can't see anything on the team. Either way, they get a notification with your decision. Everyone who can approve is notified when a new request comes in, and the Members page shows an Asking to join count.

If two people decide the same request at once, only the first decision counts. If the person joined some other way in the meantime, the request is dropped and you'll see a message saying so.

Turn approval on or off

  1. On Members, click Add member, then Share a join link.
  2. Click the switch under the link. It reads Approval required or Anyone with the link joins.

Asking to join without a code

Someone who tries to create a team whose number already has a group gets an Ask to join button. Those requests always need approval, whatever your setting, because team numbers are public.

The code got shared too widely

Click Regenerate under Share a join link. The old link and code stop working immediately, and you can send the new one to the people who should have it.
