How do FTC competitions get onto our schedule?
Last verified October 18, 2026
If your team number is set, Robolyst pulls the events your team is registered for from FIRST and adds them to the Schedule as competitions. You can also add any other upcoming event by searching for it under Add event, then Comp.
Automatic sync
Robolyst looks up your team's registered events for the current FTC season and adds each one as a Competition on the schedule. The check runs when someone on your team opens Schedule, at most once every six hours.
For this to work, your team needs an FTC team number. It's under Settings, then General, in Team identity. Once your team is verified, the number is locked.
What the sync keeps up to date, and what it leaves alone:
- The event name and location are refreshed from FIRST on each sync.
- The day is set when the event is first added and is locked. The edit form shows "Date (set by FTC, locked)".
- Start and end times can be adjusted with Edit, and the sync won't overwrite them.
- Only one competition can sit on a given day. When a division and its parent event share a day, the parent event is the one added.
Add an event you're not registered for
You need the Manage meetings permission.
- Open Schedule and click Add event.
- Choose Comp.
- Search by event name or code in Search events by name or code.
- Click the event in the results.
Only events in the current season that haven't finished yet appear. This is also the way to add events if your team has no team number set.
Find your cause fast
- Nothing synced at all: check that a team number is saved under Settings, then General.
- A new registration is missing: the sync runs at most every six hours. Open the schedule again later.
- "Another competition is already on that day." Only one competition per day is allowed.
- "That competition is already on the calendar." It's already there, possibly cancelled.
- You withdrew from an event: the sync doesn't remove events. Open it and click Cancel.
What you can do with a competition
You can Edit a competition and Cancel it, but there's no Delete. Its day stays locked, and the sync keeps the name and location in step with FIRST. The RSVP mode starts at Full RSVP. The event panel links to the Event page and, where available, Scout this event.
