How do I create a recurring meeting, and cancel just one?
Last verified October 18, 2026
When adding an event on the Schedule, tick Repeats weekly and pick an Until date. To call off one week, open that week's event, click Cancel and choose This event only. The rest of the series stays on.
You need: Manage meetings permission
Create a weekly meeting
- Open Schedule and click Add event.
- Leave the type on Meeting (or pick another type).
- Fill in the Title, Date, Start time and, if you like, End time (optional).
- Tick Repeats weekly.
- Under Until, pick the last date the meeting should happen. That date is included.
- Choose who it's for under Attendees and how people answer under RSVP.
- Tick Notify members if you want people told about it, then click Create.
Weekly is the only repeat option. The Until date is required and has to be after the start date. Repeats weekly isn't offered for competitions or for events with extra days added.
Each week keeps the same clock time across daylight-saving changes, as long as your team time zone is set under Settings, then General, in Time zone and due times.
Cancel one week
- Click that week's meeting on the calendar.
- Click Cancel.
- Add a Reason if you want one (for example "Thanksgiving break"). Leave Let members know ticked to notify people.
- Choose This event only.
The meeting stays on the calendar marked as cancelled, so nobody mistakes the empty slot for a missing entry. Its attendance is locked.
The same dialog offers two wider options:
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| This event only | Cancels the one week you opened |
| This and all future events | Cancels that week and every week after it |
| All events in the series | Cancels every week |
Bring a week back
Open the cancelled week and click Restore. For a series, choose This event only or The whole series. You can restore a single week even inside a stretch you cancelled with "This and all future events".
Change or delete the series
- To change the time, place or details for every week, open the first meeting in the series and click Edit.
- A later week that someone has already RSVP'd to or taken attendance on becomes its own event, marked "Part of a recurring series". Editing it changes that week only. Its RSVP setting stays tied to the series.
- Other weeks only offer Cancel or Restore.
- Delete removes events entirely and offers This event only, This and all future events or All events in the series. Use Cancel when you want the record to stay.
