How do I build an embed for another site?

Last verified October 18, 2026

Open the embed builder at /embed-builder (or Reach > Embeds for your team), pick a subject, add blocks, style it, then copy a snippet from Get code. Signed in, the embed is saved and you can change it later without re-pasting.

An embed is a live piece of FTC data, like rankings, your next match or award history, that you paste onto any website once. It keeps itself current.

Where to build it

  • Reach > Embeds in Team Management shows your team's saved embeds, templates and the editor. Anyone with at least one public site permission can use it.
  • /embed-builder is the same builder, open to anyone. You don't need to be on a team.

The builder needs a desktop-sized screen.

Build one

  1. Start from a template, or click New embed.
  2. In Subject, pick what the embed is about: a Team, Event, City, State, Region or Everything.
  3. In Add a block, click the data you want. The preview fills in as you go.
  4. Use Blocks on the right to reorder or tweak blocks, and Style to match your colours. Drag the preview edge to set the width.
  5. Give it a name in the name box at the top so you can find it later.
  6. Open Get code and copy a snippet.

Which snippet to use

SnippetUse it for
Embed codeMost websites. It sizes itself to the content and picks up your fonts.
iFramePlaces that strip scripts. The height is fixed, so anything past it is cut off.
LinkNotion, WordPress, OBS, or anything that unfurls a URL.
ImageA PNG summary card for slides, print and social posts.

Under Where it goes, the builder lists how to paste into Notion, WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Google Sites, Canvas or Schoology, OBS and GitHub READMEs.

Signed in vs signed out

When you're signed in, opening Get code saves the embed and gives it a short link ending in /e/ plus an id. Edit it any time and click Update. Every site already showing it switches to the new version, with no re-pasting. Until you update, a banner reads Unsaved changes and sites keep the last saved version.

Signed out, the whole embed is packed into the link. It works anywhere, but it can't be changed once it's on a site. A new look means pasting a new link.

Lock it to your own sites

Signed in, Lock to your sites in Get code takes a list of domains. Only those domains and their subdomains can load the embed. Anywhere else is refused. Leave it empty to let any site show it.
