How do I use a custom domain?

In the website editor's Options tab, enter your domain and save, add the A record it shows at your domain registrar, then click Verify & connect. Robolyst handles the HTTPS certificate.
You need: A verified team with a website, plus "Manage the custom domain"
Connect a domain
- Open Reach > Website and go to the Options tab.
- Under Your domain, type the exact address visitors should use, such as
team1234.org, and click Save. - A box titled Point your-domain here appears with a DNS record: type A, a name, and a value (an IP address you can click to copy).
- Add that record wherever you bought the domain, such as GoDaddy, Namecheap or Cloudflare.
- Back in the editor, click Verify & connect.
When it works, you'll see "your-domain is connected." The certificate can take a minute to be issued.
DNS usually updates within a few minutes, but it can take up to an hour. If your registrar asks for a TTL, the lowest option is fine.
The www version
team1234.org and www.team1234.org are different domains. To send both to your site, tick Also send www… to this address before saving. This needs a second A record, which the editor lists under the first.
What happens to the old address
Once connected, robolyst.org/team-sites/your-name permanently redirects to your domain. Old links, QR codes and search results keep working.
A connected domain only shows your site while it's published. Drafts stay private.
Find your cause fast
- "does not point here yet": the A record is missing, wrong, or still spreading. Check the value matches the editor exactly and wait a bit.
- Using Cloudflare: set the record to DNS only (grey cloud). With the proxy on, the domain stops resolving to Robolyst.
- Domain dropped after working: Robolyst checks connected domains every day. A domain that no longer points here is disconnected. Fix the record and click Verify & connect again.
- "That domain is already connected to another team.": each domain can belong to one team only.
- "Create your website first.": create the site from the Profile page before adding a domain.
- Warning that FTC lists a different website: update the website in your team's FIRST dashboard so event programs point to your domain.
Disconnect
Click Disconnect in the connected domain box. Your site goes back to its robolyst.org address.
