How does the Contact button on our team page work?
Last verified October 18, 2026
The mail icon on your public Robolyst team page lets anyone message your team without an account. If your published website has a form block, the button opens that form. Otherwise the message is emailed to your team's Primary contact email.
Every FTC team page on Robolyst (robolyst.org/team/ftc/your-number) has a mail icon in its header. Visitors use it to reach your team: sponsors, parents, other teams, event staff.
Where the button sends people
| Your setup | What the button does |
|---|---|
| Published website with a Custom form block | Opens your site and scrolls to the first form block it finds |
| No published site, or no form block | Opens a Message team box on the team page |
The form is found automatically, page by page in your site's page order. If you move or delete the block, the button follows.
Where messages from the box go
The Message team box asks for a name, an email and a message (at least 10 characters). Messages are emailed to your team's Primary contact email. The reply-to address is the sender's, so you can answer straight from your email app.
To set the address:
- Open Team Management Settings.
- Find Primary contact email.
- Type an address, or click Use shared inbox if your team has one. With the shared inbox, each message becomes a thread your whole team can read and reply to.
- Click Save contact email.
Saving needs the "Manage settings" permission. New submissions to your site's forms land at this address too.
Messages sent before you set an address
Messages are never thrown away. If someone writes before your team is verified, or before you save a contact email, the message waits. Your settings page shows how many are waiting. When you save an address, up to 25 of the oldest are forwarded right away. Save again to send the next batch.
Find your cause fast
- Not getting messages: check that a Primary contact email is saved, and look in your spam folder.
- Button opens your website: your published site has a form block, so messages arrive as form submissions.
- Visitor sees "Too many messages from this network": each network can send 5 messages an hour.
